Yearbook Advisers Guide Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't see a question answered here, just click here to send us an e-mail and we will get it on this page ASAP.

Can we just buy one copy?

Yes, you can just buy one copy and make your own copies but we know two things from the people who did this the first year. One, you probably never will distribute it. So you will have wasted your money and you will think that the product isn't very good. But that won't be true. You will love the product. You will just find out it is too time-consuming to run the copies, buy the tabs, insert paper labels in them, put them all in the binders and distribute them.

You can always make more money, you can't make more time.

Two, we can do it cheaper and better. If you can get it as professional as this one is for under $15 then we would like to know where you got it. It's completely assembled and placed in your hands.

Can we just buy access to the website?

No, we are sorry. The Yearbook Adviser Guide is a package deal--Guide, website and tips. You get them all. We don't think one works very well without the other.

Is there a separate version for Middle Schools? Or for schools that don't have a yearbook class?

Not at this time. 99% of what is in here applies to everyone whether they have a class or not. This isn't lesson plans for a yearbook class. This is a Yearbook Adviser Guide.

Is there a separate version for Experienced Advisers?

Yes! Even though I truly believe that every adviser should have access to the complete Yearbook Adviser's Guide, Dana and Megan have prevailed upon me to offer a smaller version for those reps who want to give just the monthly and sales tabs to their experienced advisers. This smaller version would give each of those advisers access to the website as well.

Is there a separate version for CY schools?

Yes, when you order, specify how many of each you need. It is in the order form. The complete Guide is not finished as of the day we are writing this but the CY Guide should be online by June 1 and available for shipment for July 1 delivery.

Is there a separate version for InDesign schools?

Not at this time but there will be additional handouts that InDesign schools can download in order to supplement the Guide. At this point most advisers who really need this guide are using YTO.

The Yearbook Adviser Guide as a section on selling business ads. Some of my schools don't sell business ads? Can I get it without that section (or any other).

No, we are sorry but even though personalized just for you the logistics of changing it to that extent for a number of reps is just impossible. All you need to do when you give this to your new adviser is tell them that some of the things in it may not apply to them. You might even go so far as crossing out those that don't.

The Yearbook Adviser Guide mentions workshops. I don't do workshops.

If you are in the yearbook business, you should definitely consider doing workshops.

Why is the base charge so high?

We actually think it's a great bargain. What you are really paying for is the prepartion and updating of all the materials in the Guide as well as on the website. Dana and Megan hired some of their advisers to create and polish the materials and we will continue to do so in the future. Plus personalization has to be done to every copy. It's priced just like a yearbook because it costs us just that way--a lot to get it set up and then the materials and labor for each extra copy.
