We are thrilled to have you think about joining us. We are always looking for a new perspective. It looks like the group will change a little but they say change is good.
Here’s how it works. Our job is to take seven photos each week for the entire year of 2013. That means we will take at least 365 photos. Or you could also choose to do the monthly theme and take seven photos a month.
Once we have taken your photos, you need to post them where others can view them on the web–could be on 500px, Flickr Picasa, Shutterfly, Webshots, Dropbox Photos, SmugMug or any other popular photo sharing site. You could even use your own blog if you have one. The key here is to do it someplace that is easy for you and someplace where the rest of us can comment on them. So far everyone in our group posts on either 500px, Flickr or Smugmug.
Once you have posted them, drop me an e-mail with a link to where your photos are. Every weekend I will post the links to everyone’s photos on this site.
If you have anything you want to say about the photos you post, you can either put that on your site or send me a note and I will add it to the 752 site.
Sometimes during the month you will need to include seven photos that fits a theme. The first month's theme is posted on the home page of 7/52.
I know that participating in this kind of project can be time consuming, and it also requires a commitment by all of us, but imagine how much more you will know about photography and your camera by the end of the year. I did this (except that it was a photo every day) in 2008 and 2011 and I learned so much about photography. It was the best education ever, not just in using my camera but in photography in general. You can see the ones I did then by clicking here for 2008 and here for 2011 And last year with others involved to critique and offer encouragement was even better.
If you are relatively new to photography, I suggest that you only decide to do this if you have a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera. Doing this with a point and shoot or a camera phone just won’t cut it. Sorry.
If you would like to just do the monthly theme that works as well. Just let me know.
Lastly, I will need a self-portrait from you to add you to the website as well as just a little bit about your background (where you live, your background in photo, etc.) Please send them no later than Sunday, January 5.
